Best Mexican food in the Virginia Eastern Shore. Great staff and fantastic food. Prices are very reasonable. Usually not a wait and if so, usually very short wait. It is located right on the side of the road, US 13. It is very easy to locate from the main road. Just be careful, lots of police around looking for speeders because the speed limit is 45 mph.

Good food with good prices. Service was also quick. Menu has many choices. Dining room is a little noisy but not too bad. Overall it is consistantly good.

Perfect place to make a Mexican stop while road tripping. Tasty, clean, with fast service. Will stop by whenever I'm in the area.

It was just blase, nothing special food, 2 out of our group got some mighty powerful diarrhea.

It may be small, but its got many surprises. They know how to cook!! The food is on point, the restaurant is just small, though I imagine what it looks like on a Friday night o_o. Overall would recommend! :DD

Their tacos and nachos are soggy as if they don’t drain the beef at all before loading it on. Every time I go there I have to order different stuff cause one day I get a taco dinner with 3 tacos in one plate and the next they tell me “they don’t sell it like that”

After reading other reviews of this place, we decided to stop and eat there because we were craving Mexican food. And it sure didn't disappoint!! Such delicious and authentic food with a decor that matches the feel. It's really down to earth, friendly and fast service! A big group came in as we were leaving and the restaurant accommodated them. This place is comfy and cozy but the staff still tried to figure out how to serve the group. I would totally go back!

Decent food at a fair price. Not something I'd go out of my way to grab, but if it's on my way then sure. Great service though, it took about 5 minutes for me to go from making an order to having a hot plate on my table.

Have loved El Maguey since moving to the shore in 2004. I am originally from California and this place lives up to great Mexican restaurants in my home state. Tamales are my favorite Mexican food and they never disappoint here. Hubby loves tacos de carne asada and says they are some of the best he has had from all over the US.

For my first time it was ok. It was priced ok. Quality over quantity, here you get both of them.

I understand that this was a highly rated restaurant due to it's very remote location. Checked it. While the atmosphere is extremely cozy and the decor is on par with a typical Mexican restaurant, the food was less than par on what I presumed it would be. The Guacamole looked as if it was squeezed out of a tube. Not vibrant or fresh. Everything tasted as though it came out of a can a slopped onto the plate. I give it 3 stars as there are not very many places to eat on this location. So it served it's purpose. I wouldn't go there again.

El Maguey is a pretty good Mexican restaurant and certainly worth a visit, or several. Their chili rellenos are great! And their red chili is a definite appetizers to order. I only wish their beef enchiladas had more flavor. I found them on the dry, bland side. Regardless, my entire family recommends El Maguey

Best Mexican food! We always stop on our way to and from our yearly family vacation to the Outer Banks. Service is friendly and so fast. The fried ice cream will knock your socks off!!!

The place isn't big, but it's well worth the dining experience if you get there at the right time. The food is delicious.. I highly recommend a Burrito Loco. The staff is super friendly and the place is always clean. Definitely worth the price!

Im not a Mexican person, must restaurants on the east coast are bland. This was a huge delight at first bite I could taste seasoning! I really enjoyed my meal. Staff was nice.

An excellent Mexican eatery for take-out or dine-in. Large menu with anything you can think of. Always fast service, after you order your food will be out within minutes. The only downside is a lack of spice that can make the food somewhat dull. A great spot if you're looking for quick, simple Mexican.
